Holy Name of Jesus School Track & Field

· 3^rd/4^th Grade meet is rescheduled from Wednesday, May 18^th to Thursday, May 19^th starting at 6:00pm at East Pennsboro HS in Enola  (directions on the website)

· All -League is Sunday May 22^nd @ East Pennsboro HS in Enola (directions on the website). Coaches will contact those participating with reporting times. Families of participants should attend to cheer on their sons and daughters as well as the whole team!

· End of season track banquet is Monday, 6:00-7:30pm @ Charlton Church next to Karns Foods near HNJ. Athletes as well as their families are welcome to attend.

· Please let your team coaches know an approximate number of attendees.

· The first track meet is Saturday, April 2, 2011 @ 2:00pm @ Middletown High School (athletes plan to arrive no later than 1:00pm) Holy Name is hosting.

· Schedule of meets in the 2011 CYO Track Meet Schedule. This is the final schedule of meets. See link below.

· Practice is held at Central Dauphin High School Track (see below for directions).

· Practices are from 5:30pm to 7:00pm unless otherwise noted on the calendar.

· Parent helpers and coaches are needed. Background clearances are required. Please email Richard Miller at coachmiller31@yahoo.com if you are interested in volunteering.

HNJ Track and Field is all about participation and improving on your personal best as well as being part of a TEAM. All HNJ Students and public school students who attend CCD religious education who are in grades 3rd thru 8th are eligible to join this top notch program.

Running events consist of 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m (1 lap), 800m (2 laps), 1600m (mile), 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, 800m medley relay (2x100m, 200m, 400m)

Field events consist of softball throw, discus, shot put, long jump.

High jump is exhibition for 7th and 8th grade only (new in 2006).

• Track Registration Forms will be available in the school office for students to pick up or download here by clicking on the link below in the Forms Section. Forms can be returned to the school office with check payable to Holy Name of Jesus.
• Please note I have arranged special pricing for HNJ Track and Field on running shoes (typically a 15% discount) at the Inside Track, (717) 564-2770, 6301 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111. This is the shopping plaza across the road from Walmart/Sams Club. Be sure to ask for the team pricing for HNJ Track before they register the sale. Do not go for the price or the huge selection. Go for the service. Remember that shoes that can accept spikes are not permitted.

May 2011 Practice Schedule

Directions to Practice

Practices are from 5:30pm to 7:00 pm and are held mostly at Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg at the intersection of Piketown and Linglestown Roads. See schedule for locations of practice.

DIRECTIONS TO CENTRAL DAUPHIN HIGH SCHOOL (MOST PRACTICES HELD HERE)

This is the new high school located at the intersection of Rt. 39/Linglestown Road and Piketown Road. From Holy Name turn right out of the parking lot. Right on Mountain Road. Go over Rt 81 and continue to the stop sign at the square in Linglestown. Turn right at the stop sign and continue for 2 miles to the next light. Turn Right and the high school track is at the top of the hill around the back of the school.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL

Follow I-83 South across the South Bridge.  Take left hand lane to Rt. 581 connector towards Camp Hill.  Exit at Route 15 south (Gettysburg Exit).  Take the Lower Allen Drive Exit (the Shiremanstown exit no longer exists). Turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Turn Left at the 2^nd signal next to Wendy’s onto Lower Allen Drive. Next turn left onto Simpson Ferry Road.  Go straight and Trinity High School is on the left side of the road just past a Diner.  Make a left into entrance and left at split around the school to the parking lot.  Track is behind the school.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO MECHANICSBURG HIGH SCHOOL

Take Interstate Rt. 81 South.  Take PA Rt. 114 exit.  Turn left onto Rt. 114. Follow Rt. 114 into Mechanicsburg.  Stay straight to go onto S. York street, turn Right onto West Marble Street.  Go 5 blocks to Mechanicsburg High School.  500 South Broad Street.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO MIDDLETOWN HIGH SCHOOL

Take PA Rt. 283 South (towards Lancaster).  Take the airport exit (first exit).  Bear right onto Rt.441.  Turn left at the first stop sign.  Go to next stop sign at fire house and make right.  Go approximately 1.5 miles to Middletown High School on Right.  Track is in rear of school.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO HERSHEY HIGH SCHOOL

Take Rt. 22 East to Rt. 39 East.  Follow 39 East to light at Hershey park Drive, Go straight through light and follow around Hershey park until you come to stop sign at Rt. 743.  Turn Right and go to light at Chocolate Ave.(Rt. 422).  Turn Left on Chocolate Ave. Pass in front of Hershey Theatre and chocolate factory, turn right at next light (Homestead Rd). Go about 1 mile to Hershey High School on right.  Track is on far side of the school.

DIRECTION TO EAST PENNSBORO HIGH SCHOOl

From I-81: Take Enola exit and follow Rt 15S. Turn right onto Shady lane (between Dairy Queen & Sovereign Bank). Follow about 1 mile to high school on right. Track is on right side of school.
