Track Announcements

This website is last updated for 2008 season on Monday, May 12, 2008. Please note the updates are as follows:

· Track practice is cancelled on Thursday, May 15, 2008 due to a soccer game confilict.

· 4^th Grade meet is rescheduled for Wednesday, May 14 at 5 PM at Trinity. Arrrive by 4:15 PM.

· 2008 Season Calendar Updated on May 12, 2008. Cancelled practice on Monday, May 12 due to rain and Thursday, May 15. Next practice is Friday, May 16 at Landis.

· All league meet is at Trinity this year. Please arrive when coaches advise.

Wednesday, May 14th practice moved to Friday, May 16th due to conflict with use of track.

· Need 4th grade parent's and any coaches available to volunteer for the 4th grade meet on Wednesday, May 14th.

· Track banquet scheduled for May 28th at 6 PM in the Social Hall

We encourage participation in the Hershey’s Track and Field Games, a national program. Participation is in on an individual basis. This year the local event is May 31^st at 9 AM at Hershey High School. Advance registration is required. You can email Kim Baver with any questions at kimbaver@derrytownship.org

HNJ Track and Field is all about participation and improving on your personal best as well as being part of a TEAM. All HNJ Students and public school students who attend CCD religious education who are in grades 4th thru 8th are eligible to join this top notch program.

Running events consist of 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m (1 lap), 800m (2 laps), 1600m (mile), 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, 800m medley relay (2x100m, 200m, 400m)

Field events consist of softball throw, discus, shot put, long jump.

High jump is exhibition for 7th and 8th grade only (new in 2006).

Track Registration Forms will be available in the school office for students to pick up or download here by clicking on the link below in the Forms Section. Forms can be returned to the school office with check payable to Holy Name of Jesus.
Please note I have arranged special pricing for HNJ Track and Field on running shoes (typically a 15% discount) at the Inside Track, (717) 564-2770, 6301 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111. This is the shopping plaza across the road from Walmart/Sams Club. Be sure to ask for the team pricing for HNJ Track before they register the sale. Do not go for the price or the huge selection. Go for the service. Remember that shoes that can accept spikes are not permitted.

Directions to Practice

Practices are from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in March and from 5:30pm to 7pm during April and May and are held either Landis Field located on the Central Dauphin Middle School campus at 4600 Locust Lane in Harrisburg or Linglestown Junior High School, 1200 N Mountain Rd, Harrisburg, 17112. See schedule for location of practice.

The NEW Central Dauphin High School

This is the new high school located at the intersection of Rt. 39/Linglestown Road and Piketown Road. From Holy Name turn right out of the parking lot. Right on Mountain Road. Go over Rt 81 and continue to the stop sign at the flag pole in LInglestown. Turn right at the stop sign and continue for 2 miles to the next light. Turn Right and the high school track is at the top of the hill around the back of the school.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL

Follow I-83 South across the South Bridge. Take Rt. 581 connector towards Camp Hill. Exit at rt. 15 south (Gettysburg Exit ). Take Shiremanstown exit ( about 1/4 mile on Rt. 15 south). Turn Right off ramp onto Simpson Ferry Road. Go straight through first light and Trinity High School is on the left side of the road just past Wendy's. Left into entrance and left at split around the school parking lot. Track is behind the school.
